Just a few hours north of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, is a natural wonder that will take your breathe away.
Locally named Jebel Fihrayn but known as the “Edge Of The World” to foreign tourists, it is now the most popular day trip from the Saudi capital.
While Jeddah has Al Wahbah Crater as it´s a natural wonder to visit as a day trip, so is The Edge Of The World, Riyadh´s answer.
Unknown to the outside world before Saudi Arabia opened up to tourist in 2019 it has now fast become a “must-visit tourist site” in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Edge of the world is part of The Tuwaiq escarpment that runs approximately 800km/500miles through central Saudi-Arabia from Al-Qasim in the north of the Kingdom, to the Edge of the Empty Quarter in the southern part of the country.
The Tuwaiq’s cliffs were formed around 50 million years ago when the Arabian Plate shifted toward the northeast as the Red Sea Rift spread apart beginning in the Eocene Epoch.
Looking for ideas of where to go in Saudi Arabia?
Bit what makes exactly this spot unique is the beautiful view spots on top of the 200m high cliffs. It really looks like the Edge of the world.
There´s nothing here between you and the endless horizons in front of you, just the dry valley floor beneath you. But at least the view is superb from here.
While the main thing here to look out from the cliff and into the horizon, so should you also look down, the ground here is full of old fossils if you look closely. And when driving towards the Edge of the world, so is there a “secret” cave along the way which is worth a visit.

We visited the edge of the world with Riyadh trips, where we found the leader of the trip, Obeid, very friendly and hospitable. We visited the bat cave, had Arabic coffee, tea and dinner. Thank you, Riyadh Trips

I have visited this place in Sept 2019. A fascinating trip it was. We stayed there until sunset. Prayed evening prayer and returned back in dark.... Phew... Memorable...

I resided in Saudi Arabia for 22 years between 1968 and 1992 (2 years I was away). I worked for a small company but the dividend is that we had customers in 15 towns and cities whom I had to visit on a regular basis. Who, outside of the Kingdom knows of Hail, al_Wedg, Hofuf, al-Ula, al-Baha, Najran and so much more. How wonderful that tourists can now, especially with help of people like you, discover the Kingdom and the many marvels that, for too many years, have been hidden from the rest of the world. I wish you the very best.

Lucky to have been there before 2019 when we had the whole place for ourselves and a heard of camels. I still have some incredible fossils from there--a fully intact coral and some shark teeth. Fascinating distinction for reflecting and imagining when water in the vast desert before you. Thank you.
